How To Make Easy Clam Chowder

Learn How To Make Easy Clam Chowder at Little Tips!

Easy Clam Chowder Recipe.
  • Whole baby clams; 4 5oz cans or 4 142ml cans
  • Salt pork, cut in small cubes; 1/4 lb or 115g
  • Chopped onion; 1 cup or 250ml
  • Liquid (clams liquid plus water); 3 cups or 750ml
  • Diced potatoes; 2 cups or 500ml
  • Salt; 1 1/2 tsp or 7ml
  • Pepper; 1/2 tsp or 2ml
  • Milk; 6 cups or 1.5L
  • Butter; 1/4 cup or 60ml
  • Chopped parsley; 1/4 cup or 60ml

Drain clams, saving the liquid.

Put salt pork in heavy saucepan and fry until light brown, stirring constantly.
Add onion and cook until tender but not brown.
Measure clam liquid and add enough water to make the 3 cups or 750ml liquid called for.
Add to onion mixture along with potatoes, salt and pepper.
Cover and cook gently for 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
Stir in milk and clams and bring just to a boil but do not boil.
Stir in butter and parsley.
Serve immediately.

Serves up to 12 persons.
