Have you ever scratched your own rims by running into a curb or hitting a pothole? In this article we will teach you How to Fix Scratched Rims at home without spending that much money. Its very easy just follow these simple steps below.
Well here is what you need:
Dry/wet Sand paper 1000
Sandpaper 400
Sandpaper 280
Foil
Metal Polish
First you have to use the Sandpaper 280 to take out most of the major/deep scratches. Just sand the scratched area lightly until the surface will smooth up. In my case I did use wet sanding rather than dry sanding to get better result. As the surface gets smoother you have to change the sandpaper to 400 to make a finer and smoother. Notice that as you increase to finer sandpaper the surface gets shinier.
Then on the third sandpaper 1000 you still have to do wet sanding but this time you use Metal Polish instead of water to get top result. and Lastly here is the TRICK! I did use the foil to clean up the area to get the shiniest result, of course still with Metal Polish then clean it with dry clothe.
You might not be able to get it at 100% unless you are going to paint the entire rim. BUT it will somehow remove most of the scratches and I'm pretty much contented with the results as I did with my Polished lip rim.
Try it and tell me if it works for you! Good luck!
